Pest Control Chemicals

Active ingredient- Bifenthrin 7.9% is the work horse of many a pest control company. It is a fantastic broad spectrum pesticide, great for preventative control of ants, spiders, earwigs, wasps, crickets, and just about every other 6 or more legged creatures out there. It lasts a long time and faithfully performs its function. Other common brand names we use are Bifen I/T, Crosscheck, UpStar Gold, Avalon, and Bi-sect.

Active ingredient- Fipronil 9.1% Taurus SC or Termidor SC was a game-changer when it was released to the commercial pest control market around 20 years ago. It was originally designed for controlling termite colonies, but was also found to be the closest thing to a silver bullet PMP’s had ever found for controlling ants and other social insects. Its effectiveness lies in the fact that it is non-repellent. Since pests can’t detect it they crawl through it picking up tiny particles like lethal cockleburs and continue back to their nests and transfer the chemical to all they come in contact with. These “infected” pests become carriers in turn and can spread the pesticide like a virus throughout the population. In the hands of the professional applicators of Kodiak Pest & Lawn, Taurus is the apocalypse of any ant colony unfortunate enough to inhabit our customers’ property.

Other Chems We Use:

Active ingredient- Cypermethrin 25.4% is like the ibuprofen of insecticides, it doesn’t seem to matter what brand you use, take the right dosage and the pain goes away. Cyper TC has been our go-to for quick knockdown for years. When we come face to face with an angry hornet nest or some big fat grasshoppers, we use the big guns for the quick kill. Cyper is one of the smellier pesticides out there, but I love the smell of Cyper in the morning… it smells like victory.

Active ingredient- Bromadiolone .005 Don’t let that small percentage fool you, this all-weather block rodenticide has left many a marauding rodent assuming room temperature after just a single feeding. Contrac is an anticoagulant, so when mice, rats, or voles ingest it they feel woozy and promptly return to their nests to kick the bucket, preventing them from infesting your shop, home, or business. At times when treating active infestations, I’ve been able to hear a renegade rodent call out to his comrades (after eating some super tasty contrac) with his final breath “Bro, I’ma die alone!”

Active ingredient- Dinotefuran 40% Brought to us by the good ol’ boys and girls at BASF (the same folks responsible for Termidor) it works in much the same way as Taurus CS, but with the added benefit of being an absolute Bear on bed bugs. Bed bugs aren’t really colonial, but they are gregarious (but not in the friendly, cheerful way you typically think of, stay away from learning about their breeding habits) in that they like to congregate and huddle together. This behavior lends itself to spreading Alpine to all their friends, family, and neighbors, creating an altogether deadly bed bug pandemic.

Active ingredient- Lambda Cyhalothrin 9.7% With better knockdown and longer residuals than Talstar, Cyzmic is the way to go with stubborn pests. If we encounter overly tenacious pests and need to take our proverbial gloves off Cyzmic reliably does the trick. Its micro-encapsulated formulation is the key to its success. It’s like Mr. Miyagi’s crane kick, if applied correctly “no can defense”.
